I have set my latest personal reading challenge, so far I’ve been trying to get through a book a month to ease my shelves of unread novels, but now it is something a little more challenging.

The next Harry Potter movie is due out on the 11th of July. I have decided that before then I want to get through as many of the six Harry Potter books I can that are sitting on my shelves. I started the Philosopher’s Stone last night and got about 1/3 of the way through it. I have a feeling the first couple books will go by much quicker than the last ones. Especially since by the time you get to the fourth book it is about 3 times the size of the first. :)

There is a good chance that I won’t get them all read, but I am going to make an effort to at least get to the fifth book, as it is the latest movie.

I am getting through Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone much faster than the first time I tried to read it. Not sure what has changed. The last time I could barely get past the first chapter, something about J.K. Rowling’s writing style that I couldn’t handle or just a disinterest in the content. This time though I am having no such qualms, maybe it is because I have seen the movies and have that background info to fill into the book or perhaps I am just less judgemental in general because it seems perfectly fine to me now. Whatever the case, I am enjoying th book and the challenge has begun.

Wish me luck. 124 pages down 3,236 to go. :)

Updated: Friday June 22nd @ 9:47 – Finished Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone – 1 book down, 5 to go. Alternately 3,028 pages to read.

Update 2: Saturday June 23 @ 12:45am – Finished Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets – 2 down, 4 to go – 2,660 pages left.

You? Less Judgemental when it comes to literature? What is the world coming to?

I know – I think Hell is partially frozen over – I’ll try to become more judgmental again. ;)
