Pleases Girls Completely

Ever since the community band concert I went to on Sunday I’ve had this song stuck in my head. It is funny because it was just an random comment that got me thinking about it. It does take me back though. :)

Do you remember it? Doesn’t it just take you back?

Retro Music Video Day

I do love this song. Look Maggie there is even a sax solo for you. In a cemetery?  ;) Really there is something for everyone. Who doesn’t love this song? (if you are one of those who doesn’t, please refrain from saying so – no need to burst my bubble.;) I’ll keep pretending you do.)

How About A Song?

Or perhaps a video.
I have nothing to say today, but I’ve been listening to quite a bit of Damien Rice, so I thought I would share some. :)

Set My Soul Alight

Are there ever bands that you don’t hear for a while then you remember them and think how could I have forgotten about them?

This is how I feel about Muse. I vaguely remember them from way back, apparently 1999,  when they released Showbiz. Then a little while ago they fell back on my radar and I am hooked – again.

I just love discovering – or RE-discovering music. :)

Here is the odd video for one of their songs I really enjoy – hope you do.

Motivation To Move

I spend my days sitting, it is the nature of my work, it is hard to reconcile bank accounts while walking around. Though if I could, I would, if I could do so outside in the lovely sunshine even better. Alas I cannot. Instead I have to sit at a desk covered in papers.

One thing that gets me through my day though is music. At my old office I always had music streaming from the internet, I could change the genre as the mood stuck me. Classical, upbeat, world, whatever. My new office I don’t have the luxury of streaming music, we aren’t even allowed to go to such taboo sites. The office does have a radio but it only has one speaker that feeds into the reception area. This means I have taken to bringing my iPod into the office and listening to it with one earphone in. (If I use both people could sneak up on me and that would not be fun.)

Still I get to change the music as my mood suits, but of course I don’t have as much variety. Though I find myself mostly playing my classical tracks. Partly because they don’t have lyrics to distract me and fade nicely into the background, but partly because they don’t motivate me to move. Sure I could get up and waltz about to a lot of them, but that would be silly. When I switch to other genres it is harder to just sit focused on my work.

First my foot or the pen/pencil in my hand starts tapping along, then perhaps a little swaying in my chair. I have yet to break into full chair dancing, I can keep myself under enough control for that, but when I switch to those upbeat songs it really makes me want to just dance out of the office into the fresh air.

Realizing this fact about my music listening at work the other day had me wondering what songs in my collection would work for motivating me to move outside of work hours. Once I started thinking about that though I came to the conclusion that it all depends on my mood. Sometimes it is rock, sometimes alternative or punk, or even some new country.

What are the songs that get you motivated to move? On the treadmill? While cleaning the house? While driving?
